Today, I had a HUGE Scare. My beloved 14 1/2 yr old Golden Retriever Andy couldn’t be found anywhere. I looked in all her usual spots, on one of the three dog beds in the living room, the office, hallway, sunroom, under the bushes, or asleep in front of my parents home next door. NO Andy!!! I started to kind of freak. Andy has some hearing loss. Matter of fact yesterday someone stopped in the check the boarding facility, and decided to move their van…. and Andy failed to hear it start. She was grazed by the bumper. This prompted the hunt for a “Deaf Dog In Area” Sign. Today her missing status was too much. I couldn’t find her folder with her information, let alone her microchip information. So, I called HomeAgain. It had been 14 yrs plus since I activated her chip. Since then they stopped the lifetime program and I had to pay to update her chip. After walking up and down the lane calling for her – keep in mind each round trip is about a half mile. We dug into the archives to find her information. Updated a photo of her. And was told 20 minutes before the poster went out. 10 mins later I hear tick tick tick on the deck, and in walks in a rather smug MUDDY Andy. She was wearing the classic Sh** eating grin. All I could say was ” where have you been?” Of course no answer. I called HomeAgain and got the same person- he was so tickled our beautiful white faced girl was home, and then he asked if she explained why she was so MUDDY. I had to laugh.
If you are interested Amazon.com has GPS systems for dogs, and the best price. I bought extra dog tags that work with the system, just in case… Andy is still cleaning the mud out of her coat. I figured best punishment. lol Ok, end result : gps system ordered, Deaf Dog In Area signage and maybe 13 new white hairs. Sigh, my baby girl is home.
Now UPDATE that microchip/tattoo information!!!
